  • Eco knitting?

I was looking at random stuff on youtube when I stumbled onto this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eo2zdXteoko from Make Magazine....they were teaching people how to knit. The thing that was unusual and that I hadn't ever thought of, was one of the ideas they mention that you can knit with...

the tape from inside all your old cassettes! So I started searching so see if I could find perhaps some patterns since that mixes knitting and repurposing things...and started turning up lots of other sites. Go figure! Crafting a Green World has some patterns and links.

Its just crazy. Perhaps when I have time I will tackle this idea!

  • My Knitting/Crafting Wishlist

I figured that since I always lose the wishlists that I write up, I'll post it here. Any links are just to provide examples of what I am talking about (if anyone else happens to be looking for things to get me )

I think that's it for now. I had some others but I can't remember them off the top of my head.

    new additions as of 2-17

  • In the nick of time!

I had been thinking about doing a hat for myself. One with earflaps since my ears are always cold... and I wanted to use my Blizzard yarn that my gramma had given to me a few years ago. Its 65% alpaca so its really warm!

So I did the Thorpe Hat by Kirsten Kapur. I actually was working on it while doing the Twisted Maidens and some other projects. This is another of the things that I stayed up late working on. And in this case, I'm really glad I did, because the morning after I finished them, we started a stretch of temperatures that weren't rising above zero....some of the days we've had windchills of 30-50 below zero. Yikes! And with this hat on I've been fine, so yay! Got it done just in the nick of time.

If you can't tell....I was too impatient to wait until Nathan got home to take the pictures for me, so you have to put up with pictures taken by myself!

  • All Done!

Yay! The Twisted Maidens are DONE! And it didn't even take a week. Of course, that may be because I'm am so obsessed with my knitting that at times I will stay up until 1 or 2 am knitting while either watching tv or listening to an audio book. My boyfriend suggested that perhaps I need to go on a 12 step program...hehehe.

Its alright though, we both know I'm more than a little obsessive and he's really good about putting up with me talking about some knitting thing that really makes little sense to him or just listening to me talk about how excited I am about this or that which I am working on. Anyway, here's some pictures of the fingerless mittens.

Haven't decided if I want to do this exact style for myself or something else. There are so many different and pretty ones out there.

  • Progress on the Twisted Maidens is going well now that I have the yarn, and I was taught, with the help of the good people on Ravelry how to do the correct cable. Yay! I just really got going on things yesterday and I'm almost done with one gauntlet already! There have been a few hiccups in it all that needed fixing and I'm just praying that the first one won't be too much worse than the second. But otherwise I think its going well.

Been getting lots of comments and compliments on the pattern. I think my cousin will love them. At least I hope she does, since she's the one that chose this pattern!

On  a different note, the miniature mittens are a hit!
